Two discs face each other across black lacquer: one of grey-blue shell, one of gold. Concentric lines are incised into both and continue as curved threads across the gap between them.
The pattern is set on a square tray, a lidded box and a tall flat-sided vase. On the vase the discs sit at opposite ends, one above the other.
